On August 6, 2024, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris announced her pick for vice president. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will be taking his place by Harris’s side during the 2024 election cycle. This comes just days after Harris officially secured her nomination after President Joe Biden suddenly and unexpectedly dropped out of the race, leaving Democrats in a state of momentary confusion.
Timothy James Walz has served as the Governor of Minnesota since 2019. He is a former schoolteacher and retired U.S. Army non-commissioned officer. It would seem that the Harris campaign is hoping to strengthen their grip in the Midwest United States.
